All the women in the house – stand up
Ok was in the PHP Community channel (#phpc) on freenode when we started talking about the number of women in PHP world. Elizabeth Naramore and I know we aren’t the only ones (between the 2 of us we could count ~10 other women in the PHP world). There have got to be more then that. So if you are a woman and a PHP developer – stand up and be counted. Feel free to introduce yourself and would you be interested in a PHP women’s group?

PHP Women…
If you’re keeping count, you’ll know that there are seven women listed in my blogroll. These seven women are PHP programmers, and I’ve made it a point to include them in my blogroll because women are underrepresented in PHP and these…
Count me in.
Um… Hello! Count me, count me!
I’m in too
Oh, very good idea! Please count me!
And let me be counted too.

And me too! Glad to meet you all.
I’m here!
Just starting out with PHP, but please count me in too!
Hey girl, I just would like to say that I don’t find interesting separations. Come on, there is not much girls in the developing communities, so don’t get away from others with women groups, just call them to the group you frequent
Hi,
So you do exist
I have been working as a PHP programmer for 5 years now. Went to a PHP conference a few years ago, I think of roughly maybe 300 people, I was one of the three women..
Hi,
Found this concept of “women” PHP programmers interesting. Would love to be part of it.Please count me too in…

Actually we don’t want to be exclusive – if anything we want to be inclusive in the PHP world. We want to help more women become active in the PHP world not kick men out. Just as the PHP world is part of the Open Source world.
I am male, but I wanna say that there is one female PHP programmer in our company,in which there are 5 PHP programmers..
Her Blog is http://www.apollopy.org/,blogging in Chinese…
Through my PHP life(about 4 years),I have come across hundreds PHP programmers, but only tow of them are female..one is the above I pointed, and another is losing contact with me,maybe…
I wrote a blog in Chinese on my blog to find female php programmers, hoping there would be one or more Female PHPers in China appear..
another one from me
Php Women…
I was on ##php at freenode (I try to be a good php community citizen and help out occasionally, usually for php5 questions even though irc in general tends to attract the not so pleasant aspects of the community) and noticed a little “Girls only …
Girl here
I teach web development (primarily PHP and MySQL) at a local college, and have a small web dev company on the side here in Chicago. I’ve been in web dev since 1995. I’d be glad to meet more female PHP coders!
Iam into php/mysql development for the past two years. Love your Blog!

ME too! Not only do I do PHP, but I also do Ruby and Perl.
PHP apps are more of a hobby for me … at work I’m a J2EE developer. I would be interested in a PHP women’s group though
Yup — I build php apps for work. What number am I?
Count me in.
It’s good too see so many programming women. I work as a PHP programmer, and programming is one of my hobbies.
There is me and one other PHP programmer at my workplace. Please include us in the count!
We are both girls, forgot to mention that though it is probably obvious =)
Hi Nola and Dani! Add me to your list of girl php developers.
*raises hand* [ php, coldfusion and ruby too ]
hey ladies if you haven’t already – go join the group at http://www.phpwomen.org That is where we will be organizing.
I believe there are much more php-women in the world than you think. When I register in PHP forums I usually use my cat’s name, so you don/t know if I’m a woman or a man. Many other people do that.
I don’t like that idea: http://www.phpwomen.org. Imagine that male programmers create a site only for men! What would you think about that???
We are not making a site just for women – we are making a site where women feel comfortable meeting, socializing, asking questions and finding other women in the PHP World. No where does it say men are not allowed – we are simply targetting women in particular. Besides – how would we keep men out even if we wanted to? There are no locks on the door to the site.
And just for the record – i personally would have no problem with men forming their own group. I admit I would be curious what is going on – but then I could just go to their forum and read up to find out same as you could do for the phpwomen site.
hi, count me in too….
i worked as a php programmer in germany for some time…
now i relocated to UK and work on projects mainly as freelance and elance.com.
my hubby is in developing too, but php is my department…
i like the idea of the women group, sometimes we all need the lines open to more women-logic to see the problem in another point of view….anyway, would like to hear from you..bye…..ps. sorry i am still working on my website, so don’t expect too much…
Hello,
I’m a php programmer from Italy since 2000. Count me in too!
If you’re willing to include beginners — still at that “WHY isn’t this working?!?” stage — please add me to your list!
Women web programers unite! If there is a group created, try to make it well-known that it’s available. Info should be posted to other tech women-centered groups like systers.
Count me and count me in
Actually started writing Perl with MySQL and Oracle back in the early 90′s and migrated to PHP last part of 1999 (very beginning) which makes me old. I’ve come across so few women programmers in general… funny?? Think it’s not creative or caring enough for women… never could figure that out though because we start with nothing and create something… how is that not creative!!!
Glad I’m not the only one out there. Have always worked with all guys… Knew there must be some though.
Count me in:)
Count me in. PHP is more of a hobby for me, at work I’m a full time Microsoft ASP.NET programmer.

I was thinking of going to a conference, and the photos from the previous one showed large conference halls full of men and only men. I’m used to women being outnumbered, but I have to say – it didn’t look like a place I’d feel comfortable. So… is anyone planning to go to a conference?
My sister and I are both PHP programmers(although my sister is much better than I am). I started web designing professionally when I was 12, stopped a few years later, and am now switching gears to programming. Nice to meet you.
Hi i’m starting on the php world, and i like the idea. So count on me!!!
*waves hands from sunny South Africa*
Love PHP!
Though I just entered the world of PHP recently, I must say it’s quite fun to learn.
Not too sure if that’s considered a count or not, but oh wells. Also, I am all for the idea of a PHP group, sounds like a great way to enjoy PHP.
